CISCO ASA 55066, A DEDICATED ONBOARD CYBESECURITY DEVICE
Improvements in onboard technologies for superyachts mean that today’s owners, guests and crews can now be online anywhere, all the time. But these same technologies also expose systems and passengers to a growing risk of IT attack. It’s important to understand, monitor and deal with this kind of risk.
This is an impelling need. With its experience in IT integration for yachting, Videoworks is in an ideal position to analyse, define and produce customised cybersecurity solutions for new and refitted yachts. A cutting-edge system that will be the focus of the Italian company’s stand at METS.
The Cisco ASA 5506 is a professional network security device incorporating fire power FTD threat defence software (a service for real-time identification and prevention of viruses and threats from the web). The device permits multiple levels of security on a single platform, guaranteeing a powerful, integrated defence and system management before, during and after security violations.
It also permits control over all activities taking place on the network and acquisition of useful information on users, apps, devices, threats, files and vulnerabilities. An automated system assesses the potential impact of threats and generates a list of priorities, cutting response time to deal with these threats to onboard network security.
ALL THE DOMOTICS… IN ONE HAND
Videoworks can integrate all domotics and control of onboard systems in a single device of any kind. The Creston remote control, perfect for less experienced users, is one such example, but owners can also opt for dedicated apps installed on smartphones, iPads and iPhones. One such example is the ITWmode app, designed by ItWorks exclusively for Videoworks, easily downloadable from stores and completely free of charge. The app is compatible with all iOS devices and also exists in a web version that may be installed on Android devices or using clients such as Google Chrome. These apps permit management of a whole ecosystem of services, with customised content and graphics to respond to all kinds of needs. This MULTISERVICE APP permits management of all services from an ordinary smartphone.
HIGH FIDELITY ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS
The Videoworks stand will also feature a self-supporting structure integrating a professional 4K Sony 65” display and James Loudspeaker waterproof speakers for outdoor use. The C.110sm-ACT speakers will be accompanied by a 10” subwoofer with a built-in amplifier and DSP. This unique product is designed to offer deep, even bass with a discrete, compact design. Its custom colours and perforated aluminium grid permit flush assembly to make it as discrete as possible.
The C-806TiM-ACT is a more compact in-wall 8” speaker with a built-in amplifier and DSP designed for assembly in smaller spaces. This versatile, elegant solution makes no compromises, offering designers and music fans crystal clear treble, a vast range of mid-tones and plenty of deep bass.
THE TOP SUPERYACHTS OF 2018 FEATURE VIDEOWORKS AV SYSTEMS, DOMOTICS, ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS, LIGHTING AND NETWORKS
The numerous yachts on which Videoworks has installed its systems demonstrate the Italian company’s versatility and capacity to take care of all aspects of onboard technology, from domotics to entertainment and from lighting design to audio/video systems.
BENETTI FB26969 m M/Y Spectre
On the 69-metre yacht built by the Italian shipyard, Videoworks has installed a fully centralised AV system in a dedicated rack room with seven full-height racks. The rack frame is custom-built to fit into the available areas (the cabins have only a TV, speakers and iPad). Audio-video distribution is via optic fibre. The Kaleidescapeserver for films and music is the best solution for cinema lovers who want enjoy the big-screen experience on their yacht.
CRN 50 m M/Y Latona.
Videoworks has come up with an AV system incorporating local and centralised racks, with the addition of a network rack on the upper deck. The Sonance 5.1 surround sound system in the upper saloon, main saloon and owner’s cabin guarantees an outstanding acoustic experience. This yacht is also fitted with the Kerio Control cybersecurity system, which uses a web filter to permit administrators to deny or limit access to internet sites, services and applications, protecting users and infrastructure by prohibiting access to harmful sites that could steal the user’s data.
CUSTOM LINE Navetta 42
Videoworks has produced a centralised AV system with Creston processors for this vessel. All areas onboard have Airplay with Apple TV. The vessel also has a peplink modem 2 active sims, a peplink modem 2 active sims, a router for 4G connectivity and quay wi-fi onboard.
DOMINATOR 28 m M/Y Cadet
High fidelity “zero architectural impact” speakers in the cabins can be embedded into any surface to transform it into a true high-performance audio system. The speakers are completely invisible and perfectly calibrated depending on the size of the room or space in order to produce the purest sound. Apple TV, Airplay, air conditioning, lighting and curtains (in the owner’s suite) are easily managed from a tablet anywhere on the yacht.
DOMINATOR 28 m M/Y Zalanka
Use of the sound masking system in the main saloon and owner’s cabin ensures perfect acoustics. Sound masking is an innovative technology ensuring high fidelity sound even in noisy environments such as a yacht at sea. This result is obtained by adding perfectly balanced background noise that cancels out the noise in the space. A plug-in DJ system on the sun deck permits total audio integration, so that DJs can use their own system to play music anywhere, any time. All outdoor audio equipment installed by Videoworks is completely waterproof.
PERINI60 mt. S/Y Seven. While designing the lighting on-board the Perini Seven, Videoworks collaborated with both the shipyard and the Dante O. Benini & Partners studio. The first challenge for the Videoworks team was to create a lighting design that mixed direct, indirect and backlit illumination, yet that would not lose sight of the proper balance between the various elements. The second challenge was to transfer everything that was created and designed on paper into systems, cabling and lighting schemes. The use of the DALI protocol (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface, a new digital interface standard for the electronic management of interior illumination systems) allowed Videoworks to create very high quality illumination, guaranteeing that each fixture could fully express its potential. Videoworks was also responsible for supervising, consulting and installing all illuminated environments aboard the Perini Seven, coordinating and assisting the yard in the purchase of the lighting fixtures.
Other systems that stand out among the various ones installed are the winch-dedicated cameras and the cameras installed on the cross-trees and that interface with the monitoring system – this means that when using the sails, one person can perform all sailing operations without a crew of sailors.
SOUTHERN WIND 34 m S/Y Satisfaction
The heart of the onboard systems developed by Videoworks is a centralised rack preventing the need for racks in individual areas onboard. For example, in the cabins and other guest areas, there are just speakers and TV screens. This solution guarantees maximum privacy, as maintenance work by the crew does not require access to the guest areas. Onboard Satisfaction, Videoworks has installed an HDBaseT video distribution system, representing a significant improvement in full HD video, audio and Ethernet signal transmission. All domotics systems are managed via iPad, with customisable controls.
WIDER YACHTS 50 m M/Y Cecilia
All systems are centralised on racks (racks are entirely built, assembled and tested in the Videoworks workshop). The audio system uses top of the range equipment, not only in the saloons but in the guest area as well. To protect the onboard network from IT attacks, Videoworks has installed Kerio Control, an all-in-one firewall, antivirus and bandwidth management system, protecting the onboard server with an Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) monitoring all incoming and outgoing communications. In addition to its capabilities as a new generation firewall, the device offers a Load Balancing function guaranteeing high speed data transmission for important data and an optimised Internet connection, distributing traffic via multiple links.
